Omeo District Health is a remote integrated rural health facility set in the beautiful Alpine Country surrounding the historical township of Omeo. As with most Victorian Rural Hospitals the existing facility had been altered and added to in a variety of ways over many years with the result being an inefficient functional layout with poor energy efficiencies and a mismatch of existing building stock. Our challenge as the Principal Consultants was to ensure the Hospital was provided with a flexible layout and be able to meet the challenges of modern health services to the local community, while providing a homely environment for the aged care residents. It was also a requirement that the Hospital remain operational during construction of the new facility. The result has been warmly received by the residents, staff and local community, met all of the client’s budgetary constraints, and has by all reports achieved the planned outcomes of the Hospital Board of Management. |
